Fugro Interlaboratory Testing Evaluation Programme (FITEP)

Building on the last two year's success, we are relaunching FITEP for 2025-26. The programme provides a unique opportunity for geotechnical laboratories to enhance the quality and reliability of test results, and this year it’s expanding again to include even more tests. By fostering collaboration and promoting consistency, FITEP aims to elevate industry standards, bolster confidence in data, and drive continuous improvement in soil testing methodologies. By participating in FITEP, your laboratory will comply with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.

FITEP focuses on types of testing not offered in other interlaboratory comparison projects. When you express interest in the programme, our team will provide you with additional information and a customised quote for the specific test(s) you wish to participate in.

Let's work together to elevate the precision of geotechnical soil testing

Tests include:
  • Oedemeter
  • Shear box
  • Ring shear
  • Interface ring shear
  • CID triaxial
  • CRS
  • Direct simple shear
  • Permeability
  • Thermal conductivity

Deadline for applications is 24 October 2025.

What you can expect

Scheme principles
FITEP follows and adheres to ISO/IEC 17043, ensuring that the interlaboratory comparison is performed with resources and processes of the highest standards.

Types of schemes and samples
This is a simultaneous interlaboratory scheme. All participants will receive a sample of sand and/or clay, depending on the test type(s) you choose to participate in. You will then be required to submit test results in specific formats.

Final reports
Every laboratory will receive a report, including all test results, with their own results highlighted. Confidentiality will be maintained as there will be no direct linking of tests to specific laboratories. The methods used for comparing the results will also be described.

Deadline for applications is 24 October 2025.
